There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.--Maya Angelou

Offering experienced, trauma informed counseling to individuals, couples, & teens

It is my pleasure to introduce myself, and my private practice, to you. I am a teletherapist serving clients in Illinois at this time.

I believe in an emphasis on finding a person’s positive traits and behaviors and developing their own ability to use their instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment.

I will listen, focus on your therapy goals, meet you where you are, moving to where you want to go. I am an active listener who is also willing and ready to offer insight and point out potential problem areas with permission from clients. You will make the change-I can help you see it. There are no bad questions, there is no one whose situation is beyond hope. If you're willing and ready, let's start working on improving your self-concept and continuing your journey to a healthier mindset today.

Approach to Therapy

I offer the following approaches within my practice: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Rational-Emotive Therapy, Christian Counseling, Existential-Humanistic Therapy, and Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy. With couples, I have experience with the Gottman Method as well as Emotionally-Focused Therapy. As with many other modern counselors, I avoid a one-size-fits-all approach and often offer a blend of methods depending on what is determined to be the best approach for each client.

Experience

I have my Bachelors of Psychology and my Masters of Social Work from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, Clinical Social Work Licensure, and my school endorsement (Type 73). I have certifications in Mindfulness Techniques, Restorative Justice, and Crisis Intervention Prevention.

Main Areas of Interest/Focus

I have a strong passion for social justice, advocating for the rights of vulnerable populations, relational/couples communication, and working with developing and young adults. This took me from work as a homeless and crisis domestic violence case manager after college to working as a school social worker with children and young adults with emotional/behavioral disorders. I have since focused my private counseling on attachment theory, developing a deeper awareness for adult attachment and intimate relationships. I am passionate about working to break family cycles of abuse and trauma, adolescent development, improving relational communication, embracing neurodivergence, boundary work, executive functioning skill development, and coping skill development.

I am also dedicated to working with individuals who have experienced religious trauma, are working on deconstructing faith experiences, or simply trying to understand their faith more deeply. I am registered with Health At Every Size and believe in body neutrality/acceptance and positive self-concept.
